PURPOSE:To offer an inkjet head at a low cost which is stable in discharging ink drops by constituting said inkjet head in a laminated structure of a box body provided with a heat source, a nozzle forming member formed with a plurality of nozzle openings, a piezoelectric element and a elastic member, wherein a pressure generating means is further provided and said box body and nozzle forming member is connected so that a tension is applied to said nozzle forming member. CONSTITUTION:At the start of operation, a heater 27 is actuated to heat a head. The head is heated from near the heater 27 and sequentially melts a small amount of ink 32 present in the vicinity of a pressure generating means. When a selective signal is applied to a vibrator 24, a PZT 41 shrinks because of the piezoelectric effect, whereas a foil member 42 which is high in rigidity is restricted to change its size. Therefore, the vibrator 24 is deformed and shifted to the side of a nozzle plate 21, thereby generating a very small pressure between the vibrator 34 and nozzle plate 21. Because of this pressure, ink drops are discharged. A box body 20 tends to spread out, but the nozzle plate 31 restricts the deformation of the box body 20, so that a tensile stress, i.e., a tension is applied to the nozzle plate 21. |
