PURPOSE:To reconcile both weatherability and favorable recording and reproduction characteristics of an optical recording medium by using a recording thin film comprising a Te-Sn-ZnS thin film in which at least one substance of Pt, Sb2Se3, Al2O3, Pd, Au and Se is incorporated in a specified amount. CONSTITUTION:A surface of an acrylic resin substrate 1 is provided with a replica 2 of a tracking groove by using a UV-curable resin. A recording thin film 3 which comprises Te-Sn-ZnS containing about 1-30 atomic % of at least one substance of Pt, Sb2Se3, Al2, O3, Pd, Au and Se is deposited on the replica 2. The formation of the thin film 3 is carried out by placing a chip of Pt on a target of a Te-Sn (2:1) mixture, and conducting simultaneous sputtering in argon by use of the target together with a ZnS target to deposit the desired film in a thickness of 80nm on the pregrooved acrylic resin substrate 1. |
