PURPOSE:To obtain a gate-stopping material of Gileaux furnace for the continuous production of a high-carbon forroboren, reducing the ratio of off-spec product, by mixing an oil coke with a carbon cement. CONSTITUTION:The objective gate-stopping material is produced by mixing 40-70% of an oil coke with the remaining part of carbon cement. Since the gate-stopping material contains little Al, the increase of Al component in the produced ferroboron is scarcely noticeable. It has excellent heat-resistance and agglomeration property. The gate Can be opened by removing the gate- stopping material with a steel rod without using oxygen boring. Accordingly, the corrosion of the gate is decreased and the tap number of continuous operation is remarkably increased. The gate-stopping material contains little Al component and all the produced ferroboron satisfies the specification for the Al content. Since the material has excellent heat-resistance, the corrosion or the gate is decreased and the tap number of continuous operation is remarkably increased. |
