Contaminant combustion prods. contg. halogens and heavy-metal salts and fumes resulting from burning, partic. pyrolytic decomposition of hazardous waste materials, are purified in the presence of CaO. Waste matter is burnt in the presence of low 02 levels to produce fumes in a low pressure system with continuous, bottom suction. Fumes are led into another compartment from the base for burning out. Hazardous cpds. contained in fumes are contacted with the CaO dust in a cyclone and pptd. as crystalline prods.. The heat content of purified fumes is utilised and following final treatment, fumes are released in the atmos.(Dwg.0/0) |
