PURPOSE:To obtain the subject compound useful as a raw material for the remedy for Parkinson's disease, etc., in high yield by isomerizing a tricyclic naphthenic hydrocarbon under specific temperature condition in the presence of a multiple catalyst produced by dissolving aluminum chloride in monochlorobenzene. etc. CONSTITUTION:The objective compound is produced by isomerizing a >=12C tricyclic naphthenic hydrocarbon (e.g., perhydroacenaphthene or perhydrofluorene) at 70-110 deg.C, preferably 80-90 deg.C in the presence of a multiple catalyst produced by dissolving aluminum chloride in o-dichlorobenzene or monochlorobenzene or preferably a multiple catalyst composed of 3 components and produced by blasting dehydrated hydrogen chloride as a cocatalyst into the above solution. The amount of the aluminum chloride used as the main catalyst is preferably 0.5-1.0mol per 1mol of the tricyclic naphthenic hydrocarbon used as a raw material and that of the solvent is preferably 2-5mol per 1mol of the aluminum chloride. |
