PURPOSE:To obtain the title copolymer excellent in biocompatibility and compatibility with PVC by reacting a hydrophilic polymer having a reactive group on one end with a vinyl chloride polymer having reactive groups reactive therewith on both ends. CONSTITUTION:A block copolymer of A-B-A type (wherein A is a hydrophilic polymer; and B is a vinyl chloride polymer) is obtained by reacting a hydrophilic polymer, desirably an ethylene glycol polymer or a 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate polymer having a reactive group on one end [e.g., a reaction product of polyethylene glycol monomethyl ether with methylenebis(4-phenyl isocyanate)], with a vinyl chloride polymer having groups reactive therewith on both ends (e.g., a PVC having hydroxyl groups on both ends, obtained by reacting PVC with O3 to convert both ends into carboxyl groups and reacting the product with lithium aluminum hydride). |
