PURPOSE:To provide magnetic chips having a magnetism in an amount of suitable for accelerating the growth of plants and having a magnetic field in a good direction by plastically deforming a magnetic tape so as to give the surface of the magnetic layer on the outside of the deformed product, cutting the deformed product into small pieces and subsequently magnetizing the small pieces. CONSTITUTION:A heating section 4 is disposed in a process for delivering a magnetic tape 2 at a constant rate and subsequently winding up the treated magnetic tape 2. The magnetic tape 2 is superheated at a constant temperature for a prescribed time and simultaneously drawn in the longitudinal direction by giving a winding roll 3 a winding rate larger than the delivering rate of the delivering roll to apply a tension comprising a drawing ratio of approximately 2-5 times to the magnetic tape 2 in the longitudinal direction of the magnetic tape, thereby providing a string 5 plastically deformed in forms of which both the sides are wound into the inside thereof so as to give the magnetic layer 7 outside the spring 5. The string 5 is cut into 1-10mm long small pieces 2' and a placed in the magnetic field of a permanent magnet having approximately 5000-8000 gauss to immediately magnetize the small pieces 2' in a magnetism of 5-15 gauss. the prepared magnetic chips 2' can be utilized as a plant growth-promoting medium because of having a magnetism suitable for the growth of the plants. |
