<p>PURPOSE:To improve recording density by modulating data, after that, adding a pilot signal, recording the data on a magnetic tape, fetching a component corresponding to the pilot signal out of a restoring regenerative signal at the time of reproducing, detecting a tracking condition and controlling amplitude information used in the case of viterbi decoding according to this component. CONSTITUTION:The data is modulated by a modulator 2 and after that, the pilot signal is added. Then, the data is recorded on a magnetic tape 7. At the time of reproduction, after the signal regenerated from the magnetic tape 7 is equalized, the viterbi decoding of the signal is executed by a viterbi decoder 11 and the original data is restored. Simultaneously, the component corresponding to the pilot signal is fetched out of the regenerative signal and the tracking condition is detected. Then, the amplitude information used in the case of the viterbi decoding, are controlled according to the regenerated pilot signal component. Accordingly, as the viterbi decoding, operation is correctly executed by following up reproducing signal fluctuation due to crosstalk from the pilot signal. Thus, the recording of the high density can be executed.</p> |
