In a seat belt 3 in a vehicle 1, one end 4 of the seat belt is displaceable in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle along an elongated fastening member 5 on the one side of a vehicle seat 2. The fastening member 5 is fastened by its front part 6 to the vehicle seat and with its rear part 7 is displaceably mounted in a vehicle- fixed holding fixture 9.
