PURPOSE:To improve durability and thermal stability, by adhering polyester films which are oriented only in one direction on the front and rear surfaces of a polarizing film by intersecting the orienting direction thereof roughly orthogonally with other. CONSTITUTION:Polyester films 2, 2' which are oriented only in one direction are adhered on the front and rear surfaces of a polarizing film 1 by using an optically transparent adhesive layer. If the films 2, 2' are so adhered that the orienting direction [arrow (b)] of, for example, the film 2 on the front side parallels with the absorbing axis [arrow (a)] of the film 1, the film 2' on the rear side is adhered in such a way that the orienting direction [arrow (c)] thereof intersects roughly orthogonally with the orienting direction (b) of the film 2. Thus the shrinkage of the polyester films on the front and rear sides when applied with heat is suppressed with each other and is offset, whereby dimensional stability, thermal stability and mechanical strength are improved. |
