<p>PURPOSE:To shorten the lighting start time and restart time of a discharge lamp by controlling the output voltage of a booster circuit in response to the lights-out time of the high-voltage discharge lamp and controlling the excitation time at the lighting start or restart of the discharge lamp. CONSTITUTION:A DC booster circuit 3 is connected to a battery 2 serving as a DC power source via a lighting switch 2A. A DC-AC push-pull inverter circuit 4 is connected to the booster circuit 3, and the DC voltage is converted into the sine-wave AC voltage. An LC load and an ignitor circuit 5 are connected to the inverter circuit 4, and a metal halide lamp 6 and an ignitor starting circuit 7 are connected to the ignitor circuit 5. The step-up quantity of the booster circuit 3 is adjusted by a control circuit 8 to control the current of the lamp 6. The output voltage of the booster circuit 3 is controlled by the control circuit 8 in response to the lights-out time of the lamp 6, thereby the excitation time at the lighting start or restart of the lamp 6 is controlled.</p> |
