PURPOSE:To improve stability with the lapse of time of a liquid dispersion of a silver halide emulsion by forming a liquid mixture of a photographic additive having high dispersibility in water and a water-insoluble photographic additive using an alcoholic org. solvent and a hydrophilic group. CONSTITUTION:A photographic additive having high dispersibility in water is dispersed in water. Then, an alcoholic solvent and a surfactant having -SO3 or -OSO3 group as hydrophilic group are admixed with the liquid dispersion. A soln. of a substantially water-insoluble photographic additive is dropped into the liquid mixture and dispersed with a dispersing machine, and obtd. liquid dispersion is added to a silver halide emulsion. By this method, the dispersion of the water-insoluble photographic additive is prompted because the photographic additive coexists with the photographic additive having high dispersibility in water. Since the dispersion of the photographic additives begins simultaneously with dropping of a soln. of the photographic additive into the liquid dispersion, required time for the prepn. is shortened, causing scarcely foam generation, and the stability of a silver halide emulsion with the lapse of time is improved. |
