<p>PURPOSE:To obtain an active matrix array which can display graphics, such as a circle, etc., and is suitable for displaying a circular graph, etc., by concentrically forming either gate signal lines or source signals lines connected with thin film transistors. CONSTITUTION:Gate signal lines 4 are concentrically formed and connecting lines 5 for transmitting the gate control signals of thin film transistors (TFT) for driving picture elements are formed to the signal lines 4. When voltages are respectively applied across the connecting line 5 and signal line 4 connected to the prescribed TFT, the voltage applied across the signal line 4 is written on a reflecting electrode 1. The voltage induced across the electrode 1 changes the orientation or refractive index of the liquid crystal 11 on the electrode 1. The light made incident from the faced substrate 13 is polarized and refracted by means of the liquid crystal 11 and displays a graphic, etc. Since the electrode 1 has a sectoral shape, the extent of the polarized and refracted liquid crystal has a sectoral shape, and by coupling sectoral picture elements, an extremely good circular displaying pattern can be displayed.</p> |
