PURPOSE:To achieve reciprocal rotary motion easily through a simple and thin structure by pressure contacting a slider onto the outer circumferential face of a vibration disc unit provided with piezoelectric elements vibratable in radial mode and circumferential sliding mode then rotary driving the slider. CONSTITUTION:When electrical signals in ultrasonic range are applied in parallel onto a radial mode piezoelectric element 6a and a circumferential slip mode piezoelectric element 2, inherent radial mode of a vibration unit u1 is generated through the piezoelectric element 6a. When a slider is pressure contacting with the outer circumferential face of a drive member 3, pressure contact force is amplified under radial mode of the vibration unit u1 and rotary force functions in the slip mode thus producing rotary motion of the slider. In the reverse cycle, contracting mode prevails under radial mode to reduce pressure contact force so as to idle the vibration unit u1. Since the process is repeated during initial half cycle, the slider rotates unilaterally. |
