PURPOSE:To enhance raw preservability or the like of a multicolor thermal recording material by providing at least one color forming unit layer each on either side of a transparent support, providing an opaque protective layer on an outermost layer on one side of the support, and providing a transparent protective layer on the outer side of the color forming unit layer on the other side of the support. CONSTITUTION:An opaque thermal magenta color forming layer 2 is provided on the back side of a transparent support 1, a transparent thermal cyan color forming layer 3 is provided on the face side, a transparent protective layer 4 is provided on the outer side of the cyan color forming layer 3, and an opaque protective layer 5 is provided on the outer side of the magenta color forming layer 2, thereby producing a multicolor thermal recording material. When an image is thermally recorded in the thermal color forming layers 2 and 3 from both sides by a thermal head, a cyan color and a magenta color can be developed independently on the opposite sides of the support 1 by the same applied energy. Since the support is transparent, development of cyan, cyan + magenta (= blue) and magenta colors can be realized with favorable color separation, as viewed from the side of the transparent protective layer 4. |
