PURPOSE:To augment absorption in the range from the visible region to the near infrared region by producing a thermal recording material by providing on a support a recording layer comprising two leuco dyes and color developers for developing the dyes into respective colors by making contact therewith when being heated. CONSTITUTION:A leuco dye of formula I (R is a lower alkyl, and X a halogen), a leuco dye of formula II (each of R1 and R2 is an alkyl or aryl, R3 is H, a lower alkyl or the like, R4 is H, an alkoxy or the like, R5 is H, a halogen or the like, each of R6 and R7 is a lower alkyl, formula III is a benzene ring or naphthalene ring, and n is an integer of 1-4) and a color developer are mixed with a binder to prepare a coating liquid. The coating liquid is applied to a support, followed by drying to provide a recording layer, thereby obtaining a thermal recording material. |
