<p>PURPOSE:To improve productivity and to lower cost by forming an external electrode on the part excepting both sides adjoining one side, where an internal electrode is exposed, while being divided in two by grooves formed on the top and bottom parts to make one side connected to the internal electrode and the other side to hold the internal electrode between for being made the first and second external electrodes. CONSTITUTION:One end face 3a of an internal electrode 3 is exposed to a side of a varistor element 4 while the other part is enclosed inside the vairstor layers 2a and 2b. Further, an external electrode 5 is formed on the side 4a, on which an internal electrode 3 of the varistor element 4 is exposed, and on the opposing side 4b as well as on the top side 4c and the bottom side 4d. Then, the external electrode 5 is divided in two by the groove parts formed on the top side 4c and the bottom side 4d to form a first external electrode holding the internal electrode between and a first external electrode 5a connected to the internal electrode 3. Thereby, formation work of the external electrode can be simplified while so much improving productivity and lowering cost.</p> |
