PURPOSE:To provide a solid catalyst component for Tiegler type catalysts giving highly stereoregular polymers by bringing a solid catalyst component containing Ti, Mg and halogen into contact with a W halide, a specific Si compound and a specified organic metal compound. CONSTITUTION:(A) A solid component comprising Ti, Mg and a halogen as essential components and used for Tiegler type catalysts, (B) a silicon compound of the formula (R<1> is branched chain hydrocarbon residue; R<2> is hydrocarbon residue including the same case as R<1>; R<3> is hydrocarbon residue; n is 1-3), (C) a W or Mo halide compound (preferably Tungsten hexachloride) and (D) an organic metal compound of the group I-III (preferably trimethyl aluminum) are brought into contact with each other to provide the objective component. The component is combined with an organic Al compound to give a catalyst for alpha-olefin polymerization. |
