COLOR DEVELOPER FOR PRESSURE SENSITIVE COPYING PAPER

PURPOSE:To suppress after-yellowing of a color developer layer by preparing a color developer for a pressure sensitive paper by blending a polyvalent metal- modified product of a p-substd. phenol-formaldehyde condensate having a specified terminal o-position substituent group. CONSTITUTION:A color developer for a pressure sensitive paper is prepared which comprises as an effective constituent a polyvalent metal-modified product of a p-substd. phenol-formaldehyde condensate having terminal o-position substituent groups which is so synthesized that the amount therein of components having hydrogen at both o-positions of phenol nucleus units at both ends is not more than 20wt.%. The terminal o-position substituent group is preferably a 1-12C alkyl, 6-12C aryl, 7-12C alkyl or the like. The p-substd. phenol is preferably a 1-12C alkyl-p-substd. phenol, 6-12C aryl-p-substd. phenol or the like.
