TREATMENT FOR INFECTION WITH GRAM-NEGATIVE BACTERIA AND COMPOSITION AND METHOD FOR PREVENTION

PURPOSE: To obtain a composition which contains a combination of a polyclone immunoglobulin with a monoclone anti-endotoxin antibody and is useful for treatment and prevention of gram-negative bacterial infections and endotoxin shock accompanied thereby. CONSTITUTION: This composition contains (A) a polyclone immunoglobulin against antigens of gram-negative bacteria, for example, an antibody recognizing O-antibody specificity of a variety of gram-negative bacteria and (B) a monoclonal antibody which can bind to an antigen common to the endotoxin area of a variety of gram-negative bacteria lipo-polysaccharide bacteria and can neutralize them, and is useful for treatment and prevention of gram-negative bacterial infections. The effective doses of these components are A=300mg-1g and B=0.25-3mg per kg body weight for treatment and A=50-500mg and B=0.1-1mg per kg body weight for prevention.
