A plug connector is proposed which is assembled essentially from a first housing made of insulating material and a plurality of second housings made of insulating material, as well as a slide interlock and electrical plug contact elements. For the purpose of reliably ruling out confusion of the second housings made of insulating material which can be inserted into the reception chambers of the first housing made of insulating material, mutually interacting coding means are present on the second housings made of insulating material and on the reception chambers, by virtue of the construction and/or arrangement of which coding means it is possible to insert the second housings made of insulating material, even though they are designed similarly in their main contour, in each case only into the reception chamber especially intended for them.
