PURPOSE:To automatically discriminate data communication or voice communication on the terminating station side to switch the operation mode by making character data and a digital squelch signal into packets, and providing areas for discrimination of them and an area for designation of the terminating station. CONSTITUTION:Character data and the digital squelch signal by which the terminating station can selectively receive specific voice communication are made into packets, and areas (b) and (c) for discrimination of them and an area (e) for designation of the terminating station are included in these both packets. In the terminating station, character data or the squelch signal is discriminated to automatically set a terminating device to the character data communication mode or the voice communication mode. Consequently, data communication is possible in the terminating station side at the time of operating data communication and voice communication is possible there at the time of operating voice communication, and the switching operation is unnecessary. |
