NEW MATERIAL:Aryl ether compounds of the formula (Ar1 and Ar2 are mutually independent substituted or non-substituted aryl, provided that one or more thereof are alkoxyalkyl-substituted aryl; R is alkylene; X is O or S). EXAMPLE:1-Phenoxy-2-[4-(methoxyethyl)phenoxy]. USE:Useful as a fusible material for a recording material excellent in density of color development, sensitivity, etc. PREPARATION:A halide of a corresponding substituted phenoxyalkanol, an active ester such as an arylsulfonate thereof, etc., is reacted with a substituted phenol or a substituted phenylthiol in the presence of a base to obtain the objective compound of the formula. A sodium compound or a potassium compound is preferable as the base. |
