<p>PURPOSE:To absorb shock waves effectively by allowing a spring means to retreat a piston to its backmost position at normal times with the fluid pressure in a flow path, extruding the piston when generation of flow in the flow path causes pressure drop at a pressure dropping part, and thereby exhausting the water. CONSTITUTION:When a water hammer relieving device 10 is connected with a pipeline 60 and the service water pressure is introduced, a piston 34 retreats against the action of a spring 38, and a cylinder chamber 28 is filled with water. Subsequent flowing of water generates a pressure drop at a throttle part 20 of a venturi pipe 18, and the piston 34 is advanced downward by the pressing force of the spring 38, and the water in the cylinder chamber 28 is exhausted to the pipeline 60. When the valve part of this pipeline 60 is closed rapidly, an abrupt pressure rise is generated, which acts into the cylinder chamber 28 through a vent 22, communication chamber 24, and communication hole 30, and the piston 34 is heaved to introduce water into the cylinder chamber 28 via a flow path whose section area varies. Thus kinetic energy is absorbed. This should avoid generation of waterhammering phenomena effectively.</p> |
