PURPOSE:To enhance color developability and the stability of a developed color image by using a specific bisphenol compound as an electron compound. CONSTITUTION:In a recording material utilizing the color development due to the contact of an electron donating leuco due with an electron acceptive compound, a bisphenol compound represented by formula [I] is used as the electron acceptive compound. In the formula [I], X1-X4 are respectively indepen dently a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, an aryl group, an alkyl group or an alkoxy group and, as the halogen atom represented by X1-X4, a fluorine atom or a chlorine atom is pref. and each of the alkyl group and alkoxy group pref. has 1-3 carbon atoms and, as the aryl group, a phenyl group is pref. This compound can be easily obtained, for example, by the dehydro-condensation of 3-(1-hydroxyethyl)phenol which may have a substituent and substituted phenol in the presence of a catalyst. As the catalyst, an acid catalyst such as hydrogen chloride or hydrochloric acid is pref. and, as an additive further accelerating reaction, sulfuric acid may be used together. |
