Built-on components for motor vehicles

The built-on components consist of a carrier which is formed from two half-shells made from fibre-reinforced curable plastics, and of a rigid expanded plastic core. In order to manufacture it, planar fibre material which is impregnated with curable plastics is covered at least on one side with a flexible, expandable film and vacuum shaped and cured with the formation of a half shell in a first mould which is open on one side. In a second mould, two half-shells are correspondingly positioned and the cavity between the half shells is filled with a rigid expanded plastic.
