PURPOSE: To display the state of a transmission at once without dispersing attention in driving by setting up a first display element on a display unit surface, and a second display element in a slightly separated position, and making a shift step provided with this display element, so as to be visually discriminable. CONSTITUTION: This display unit for an automatic motor vehicle transmission is electronically or electrohydraulically controlled. A first display element 17, for example, in fully automatic driving, selective lever positions, namely, preliminarily selected travel steps (P, R, N, D, 3,2,1) are displayed on the display unit surface. Likewise a second display element 18, for example, shift steps (IV, III, II, I) inputted in semiautomatic driving are displayed in each position slightly separated from a line of the first display element 17. With this constitution, a state of the transmission, especially preliminarily selected, inputted travel steps or shift steps are visually discriminable. |
