PURPOSE:To improve a crosstalk characteristic and an off-track characteristic and to weaken a sub-peak due to counter effect by making the magnetic material width at a part other than a part in parallel to the magnetic member into an inclination surface where the width is gradually decreased or increased with respect to a magnetic member parallel part. CONSTITUTION:For the shape of a part where a groove part 2 crosses a groove part 20 on a groove structure magnetic substrate 1, the width of a return path magnetic member upper part 13 is arranged so as to be approximately the same as that of a main magnetic pole film 7, and a magnetic member 10 at the part other than the magnetic member parallel part 13 is arranged so as to be nonparallel to the main magnetic pole film 7. For this reason, for example, by gradually decreasing the width of the magnetic material 10 at the part other than the magnetic member parallel part 13 with respect to the magnetic member upper part 13, a magnetic resistance can be increased, and azimuth cross can be increased due to the inclination surface of the magnetic member. Thus, the crosstalk characteristic of the thin film head and the off-track characteristic can be improved, and the sub-peak due to the contour effect can be weakened. |
