PP 35019 HERBICIDAL COMPOUNDS A herbicidal compound of formula (I): (I) wherein X is O, S(O)n or NRa where Ra is H or alkyl and n is 0, 1 or 2; R1 is H or halo; R2 is N or CR3 where R3 is halo or NO2; R4 is H, halo, NO2, alkyl, haloalkyl, CN, CO2alkyl, cycloalkyl, phenyl, COalkyl, COphenyl, CHO,OH, NH2, NHCOalkyl or alkoxy R5 is H, halo or optionally substituted alkyl; R6 is H, halo or optionally substituted alkyl; provided that at least one of R5 and R6 is halo; R7 is CN, CHO, COOR8, CONR8R9, where R8 is H, optionally substituted alkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl or aryl and R9 is a group R8, SO2alkyl, NR10R11 or N+R10R11R12 Z- where Z is an agriculturally acceptable anion e.g. chloride and R10, R11 and R12 are independently selected from hydrogen and alkyl. Processes for the preparation of these compounds and compositions containing them are also described.
