PURPOSE:To improve the outside view of equipment and enhance the efficiency of cooling operation by laying out an upper louver and a lower louver side by side so that a blowout grille may be closed across the board, rotating the upper louver substantially horizontally during cooling operation, and tilting the lower louver to the downstream side of an air duct. CONSTITUTION:When the operation of an air conditioner is suspended, the opening of a grille 4 may be closed across the board with a pair of upper and lower louvers 21 and 22, which prevents its internal parts from being observed through the clearance of the grille 4 and enables the improvement in the outside view as well. The connection fulcrum distance A of a connection lever 24a in a louver mechanism 20 is designed to be shorter than the rotation fulcrum distance B of the upper and lower louvers 21 and 22. Due to this construction, the lower louver 22 can tilt its front end slightly downward even when the upper louver 21 is rotated substantially horizontally during cooling operation. Therefore, the ventilated air from an indoor fan 9 blows against the lower louver 22 rather slantingly from vertical direction, which reduces the ventilation resistance of the lower louver 21 so that the blowout air capacity from the blowout grille 4 may be increased. This serves to enhance the efficiency of cooling operation. |
