PURPOSE:To surely maintain a target car speed even on a sloping road by feeding a shift change command to an automatic transmission from a shift change command means when an engine speed, after a shift change, is judged not to exceed a predetermined value. CONSTITUTION:In an engine control device 1, a fixed car speed running control is performed by a fixed car speed control means 8. In an automatic transmission control device 101, a car speed comparing decision means 102 decides an actual car speed to be deviated by a predetermined amount or more from the target car speed and with this condition continued for the predetermined time or more further with an automatic transmission 32 in a high speed shift, and a torque comparing decision means 104 judges whether or not an engine 13 in its present speed outputs torque approaching maximum torque 7 for the predetermined time or more. The result is YES, further when an engine speed comparing decision means 105 judges the engine speed after a shift change not to exceed the predetermined value, a shift change command is generated from a shift change control means 106 performing a transmission control. Thus, the target car speed can be surely maintained even on a sloping road or the like. |
