PURPOSE:To suppress variation in the tension of a sheet material upon transient change of the elongation of the material by calculating the coating length of the material between a coating roll and a conveying roll at the times of start and end of coating, and controlling the conveying roll at an optimum speed ratio responsive thereto. CONSTITUTION:A speed ratio setter 14 having a new structure is provided. That is, the setter 14 has a noncoating time speed ratio setter 16, a coating time speed ratio setter 17, a coating length calculator 19, a speed ratio corrector 20, etc. Particularly, the corrector 20 calculates optimum speed ratio alpha responsive to the length of the coated part calculated by the calculator 19 on the basis of the speed ratios alpha1, alpha2 set by the setters 16, 17, and a conveying roll 3 is controlled by the optimum speed ratio. |
