PURPOSE:To make it possible to restrain the lamination of an electrolyte without the lowering of battery performance by forming an electrolyte movement restraint region with a porous separator filled with an attractant.swelling substance having an attractableness and swelling property. CONSTITUTION:An electrolyte movement restraint region 10 is formed by filling a porous separator 9 with an attractant.swelling substance 11 having an attractableness and swelling property. Consequently since the substance 11 attracts an electrolyte to be swelled and closely adheres to the surface of electrode plates 2 and 3, the movement of the electrolyte in the interface between the region 10 and the plates 2 and 3 can be restrained. And since the region 10 by putting the substance 11 attracts the electrolyte, a cell reaction can be made to occur even in the region 10. This enables the lamination of the electrolyte to be restrained without the lowering of battery performance.
