PURPOSE:To detect document size automatically and to eliminate wasteful use of copying forms by monitoring the output of a document size detecting means continuously for a specific time even if a copy start switch is turned on before a document pressure mat is pressed. CONSTITUTION:A limit switch 3 which detects the opening/closing state of the document pressure mat, an optical document size detection sensor 7 which detects the size of a document on a document platen, a copy start switch on a console panel, etc., are connected to a control unit 9. If the copy start switch is turned on before the document pressure map is turned on, the sensitivity of the sensor 7 is lowered to reduce the influence of disturbing light and the size is detected for the specific time. The sensitivity of the sensor 7 is increased, for example, one second later and the document size is detected with high accuracy. Even if an operator presses the copy start switch before closing the document pressure mat, the document size is detected to eliminate such wasteful use that a copying form of improper size is used. |
