<p>PURPOSE:To reduce the size of the pillars of a warehouse by detecting whether the sum of the weight of the cargo already accepted and that of the cargo to be newly accepted is less than the allowable load to the pillar which supports the cargo or not and allocating a shelf for the cargo only when the sum is less than the allowable load. CONSTITUTION:W1 to W6 show the allowable load to each pillar 1. The span between shelves 1 and 1 neighboring with each other is set at the unit length corresponding to the unit weight of a cargo 10. Before the cargo 10 is brought into the warehouse, both the location of the shelf to be allocated for this cargo and a total load imposed upon the pillar 1 are figured out, based on both actual length of the cargo 10 and a unit weight of the cargo 10. In this case, both actual length and unit weight of the cargo 10 are detected in advance. Then, according to the predetermined procedure, a vacant shelf, which is suitable in length in accepting the cargo 10 and whose allowable load is not less than the sum of the weight of the cargo already accepted and that of the cargo 10 to be newly accepted, is searched for. If found satisfactory, the shelf is allocated for this cargo. With this constitution, the size of the pillar can be reduced.</p> |
