PURPOSE:To reliability prevent non-feed of a sheet by a method wherein when the number of sheets on a refeed sheet tray is reduced to a low value, an air velocity from an air blow means is switched to a very low air velocity by an sir velocity switching means, and a conveying means is pressed by means of a suction force. CONSTITUTION:When the number of stacked sheets P remaining after discharge of them on a refeed tray 1 is reduced to the preset low number of sheets, an air velocity switching means 60 switches an air velocity of air blown through an air knife 5 against an end part Pa of a sheet to a very low air velocity or a zero air velocity at which the sheet P is not levitated. Thus, the sheets P on the refeed tray 1 are prevented from vertical vibration even when the number of sheets is reduced to a low value. By means of a suction force generated in an air vacuum tank 45, the lowermost sheet P is pressed against an endless belt 44, and the sheets are conveyed one by one by a separating conveying means 50 without the occurrence of non-feed. This constitution enables reliable conveyance of the sheets at a high speed even when the number of sheets on the refeed tray is reduced to a low value. |
