The invention relates to a modular load support element suitable for receiving any load of various shapes and enabling it to be stored and/or handled, and/or transported, and for permitting the stacking of the loads. According to the invention, the load support element 1 defines a depositing plane 2 and includes at least: - a rigid sole plate 3 forming a depositing plane, - uprights 4 integral with the said sole plate, - nesting (fitting) means 5 provided at the level of the said sole plate which are suitable for receiving the free ends 6 of the uprights of another similar support element arranged below in order to enable them to be superposed and stacked. <IMAGE>
