PURPOSE:To reduce the number of paths, shorten a vertical size shorter than the title heat exchanger so far and contrive the improvement of the efficiency of heat exchange by a method wherein refrigerant is made to flow symmetrically about a central header pipe interposed between two sets of header pipes. CONSTITUTION:The central header pipe 16 of a heat exchanger 11 is provided with a partitioning plate 19, dividing the inside of the header pipe 16 into upper half and lower half substantially, at the central part of the same. Accordingly, refrigerant flows symmetrically about the pipe 16 from the central header 16 to both sides header pipes 12, 13 and from both sides header pipes 12, 13 to the central header pipe 16 again whereby the flow rate of the refrigerant in respective paths becomes half substantially. Accordingly, about one half of the length of flow passage is necessitated in order to obtain the same capacity as the heat exchanger so far and the number of paths may be reduced. According to this method, the vertical size of the heat exchanger or the lengthwise size of respective header pipes may be shortened remarkably as compared with the heat exchanger so far and efficiency upon using the heat exchanger on a vehicle can be secured. |
