<p>PURPOSE:To make nitrogen oxides and/or sulfur oxides in a waste gas harmless by applying voltage to a plurality of porous electrodes installed crossing rectangularly with the gas flow in a cylindrical reaction chamber and porous dielectrics using flow discharge plasma. CONSTITUTION:A first porous electrode 10 and a second porous electrode 11 are installed while their planes are almost rectangular to the axis of a plasma reaction chamber 5 in the inside of a cylindrical plasma reaction chamber 5. A porous dielectric material 9 is installed between the porous electrodes 10, 11 while keeping a distance to one electrode. Ammonia is supplied through a supplying tube 17, mixed with a combustion gas discharged from a combustion furnace 1, and introduced into the plasma reaction chamber 5. the mixed gas is led to a space in front of the porous dielectric material 9 through the pores of the porous electrode 10 and made into plasma and harmless by flow discharge. Porous electrodes and porous dielectric material having a large quantity of pores which are parallel to the planes rectangular to waste gas flow direction are installed, therefore a large amount of waste gas can be brought into contact with plasma instantaneously.</p> |
