Device for generating low-temperature plasmas by formation of sliding electric discharges, including means for forming a gas jet, at least two divergent electrodes 14 arranged so that the gas flows along the said electrodes while sweeping the landing points of the discharges and an electricity supply 20 delivering a (current, voltage) pair such that, at each instant and in a sequential manner, the striking and then the holding of at least one electric discharge is permitted between the said electrodes 14; each electrode 14 being connected to one terminal of the electricity supply 20. Application to the plasmachemical or heat treatment of fluids, especially to gas electroburning or to gas cleaning. <IMAGE>
