The fairing according to the invention comprises a tubular element 5, 6, 8 and 9 surrounding the rotary tube 2 of the winder and provided with a longitudinal slit 3 serving for the passage of the sail 4, as well as two lateral sections 19, 20 intended to become fixed to the mast M. These two sections 19, 20 are secured to the fairing by means of two respective assembly systems 11 to 26 allowing a relative axial sliding of the tubular structure 5, 6, 8 and 9 and of the said sections 19, 20. Each of these assembly systems has several assembly modes, each leading to a connection in which the lateral section 19, 20 is held in a fixed orientation with respect to the tubular structure 5, 6, 8, 9, this orientation being different from one assembly mode to another.
