PURPOSE:To form the regions necessary for tracking control with high accuracy by a simple stage by forming both regions where crystals are broken and regions where the crystals are held intact to a magneto-optical recording film, discriminating these two different regions by a magneto-optical effect and using the regions as guide tracks. CONSTITUTION:The regions 31a where the crystals are broken by ion implantation and the regions 31b where the crystals are held intact are formed to the magneto-optical recording film 31 on a transparent hard substrate 30 and an optical reflecting film 32 is formed thereon. The two different regions 31a and 34b are discriminated by the magneto-optical effect and are used as the guide tracks. Namely, the intensity of the reflected light varies in the case when the regions 31a is irradiated and the case when the region 31b is irradiated if the magneto-optical recording film 31 is irradiated with the beam spot throttled approximately to the track width from the transparent hard substrate 30 side. Tracking control can, therefore, be executed by detecting the difference between the same. The regions necessary for the tracking control are formed by the simple stage with the high accuracy in this way in spite of using the optical recording material which is hardly formable on the grooves. |
