PURPOSE:To execute picture display at a high speed with small memory capacity and simple control by generating the luminance of respective picture elements on a screen in the order of the display. CONSTITUTION:A segment generating part 1 obtains a column number value and depth value and the luminance in the both edges of a segment, which is a cross line between a scan line plane and respective polygons to constitute a polyhedron, and the obtained values and luminance are generated as segment information. Then, a display information generating part 2 executes forward and backward decision mutually for the segments and generates display segment information and display background information. A display information storing part 3 stores the display information to an address, which corresponds to the column address of one edge point, and an address generating part 4 obtaines and generates the address to correspond to the column address from the column address of the reverse edge point. This address corresponds to the column address of one edge point in the display information to be read next and the display information can be efficiently read in the order of the column address of one edge point. Then, the luminance can be obtained in the order of the column address. Thus, the memory capacity is reduced and a control mechanism is simplified. |
