OPTICAL PROCESSING OF MOLDED ARTICLE OF POLYCARBONATE OR THE LIKE

摘要

PURPOSE:To modify the surface of a specific molded article or to change color of the surface, to improve adhesiveness and wetting characteristics and to optically process the molded article into a material useful for optical information recording medium by irradiating the molded article with ultraviolet laser beam. CONSTITUTION:A molded article consisting essentially of polycarbonate-based polymer, polystyrene-based polymer or a blended thereof is irradiated with ultraviolet laser beam at 150-380nm to modify the surface of the molded article or to change color of the surface. A polycarbonate-based polymer having a composition of a copolycondensation copolymer containing benzene nucleus in most of main chain thereof or blend thereof or an alkyl methacrylate-based or 4-methylpentene-based copolymer containing benzene nucleus in most of main chain thereof or a blend thereof is used as the polycarbonate-based polymer and the molded article is preferably irradiated under a condition wherein energy density of ultraviolet laser beam is <=300% threshold value to cause erosion of molded article of the polymer.
