PURPOSE:To obtain a controller for measuring the central position of raw log having means for correcting the central position to be centered by measuring the distances from a fixed point set on the outside circumferential part of the log which makes one turn at multiple points, and subjecting the measured values thereof to signal processing with a computer thereby indexing the average central position of the raw log. CONSTITUTION:The distances (l) between the measuring point (d) on the outside circumferential part of raw log 1 and the fixed point (c) are measured at multiple points by an ultrasonic type level meter 9 during one rotation of the log and is converted to digital signals. The rotating angles of spindles 4a, 4b are measured with a rotary encoder 10, and are converted to pulse signals. From the above-mentioned digital signals and pulse signals inputted to a computer 11, an average central position is indexed and this position is determined as the central position to be centered of the log 1 most suitable in terms of production efficiency. Further the deviations between the tentative central position and the central position to be centered in the X-axis direction and the Y-axis direction are transmitted as correction signals respectively to servocontrol motors 6xa, 6xb, 6ya, 6yb, whereby the position of the log is controlled automatically. |
