<p>A method is proposed for the treatment of old and/or waste materials containing metals, oxides, salts or organic constituents, for environmentally friendly disposal and for the recovery of useful substances, the said method being characterized, above all, in that separation of the metals and other useful substances is carried out, using their volatility and their thermally differing solubility and formation of mixed crystals in liquid lead. Preferably, in this case, the old and/or waste materials, presorted if appropriate, are introduced into a lead melt, above which an essentially reducing atmosphere prevails, the organic constituents are removed from the floating fraction by being burned off with oxygen being supplied, the floating fraction is subsequently scraped off, the lead melt is subsequently cooled, and the fractions floating out of the lead melt during cooling are likewise scraped off, all the scraped- off fractions being reprocessed in a known way metallurgically.</p> |
