The decoration includes a base (30) on top of which there is an animated flower (32). - The flower has a hollow stem (34) fitted over a curved core (68). - The core extends into the base, and may be rotated or moved vertically in order to animate the flower. The petals of the flower (38) are opened and closed under the alternating action of the core of the flower stem. - The flower is operated by a motor and gear mechanism in the base of the stand.
