PURPOSE:To increase filtering efficiency by making the total cross-sectional area of all the gaps among tubes larger than the min. cross-sectional area of a path so as to increase the surface area of a fluid path without hindering the flow of fluid. CONSTITUTION:Many tubes 3 made of a Filter medium and having a nearly circular cross-section are cylindrically arranged in the axial direction. The gaps among the tubes 3 are blocked at one end of the resulting element as a fluid inlet and the tubes 3 are blocked at the other end. The total cross-sectional area SIGMAS2 of all the gaps among the tubes 3 is made smaller than the total cross-sectional area SIGMAS1 of all the tubes 3 and larger than the mix. cross- sectional area S3 of a path F3 for feeding fluid into the tubes 3. Filtering efficiency can be increased.
