PURPOSE: To enable an efficient separation of anion and cation exchange resin particles by removing either at least the comparatively smaller particles of a group having the comparatively greater terminal velocity, or at least the comparatively larger particles of a group having the comparatively lesser terminal velocity. CONSTITUTION: At least the smaller particle sized portion of the first group and all fine particles of a different nature, or at least the larger particle portion of the second group and large particles of a different nature is separated from a mixture by shieving or the like. The obtd. mixture is led into a tube 24, at an inlet height, which has a separation liq. body 28 flowing upwardly at a velocity lower than the terminal velocity of the particles 29 of the first group but higher than the terminal velocity of the particles 31 of the second group, and is approximately vertically elongated the first group is flowed down in the tube 24 as far as a lower region where the particles of the second group are not present, the second group is transported upwardly in the tube 24 as far as an upper region, located at the inlet height, where the particles of the first group are not present, and the particles of the first group is separated from the particles of the second group. |
