PURPOSE:To improve mechanical strength and oil resistance by impregnating an elastomer soln. into an expanded graphite sheet, which is then dried and subjected to hot press molding. CONSTITUTION:An elastomer soln. is prepd. by dissolving elastomer such as acrylonitrile-butadiene rubber, 1-30wt.% sulfur basing on the amt. of the elastomer and 0.1-15wt.% vulcanization accelerator such as tetramethylthiuram disulfide in a solvent such as acetone. An expanded graphite sheet having 0.05-0.20g/cm<3> bulk density obtd. by compressing and rolling expanded graphite granules having <=0.01g/cm<3> bulk density is immersed in the elastomer soln. to impregnate 5-35wt.% elastomer into the sheet and this sheet is subjected to hot press molding at 120-170 deg.C. |
